This clinic will be for those that are catcher’s or want to learn to be a catcher. There is no charge for this clinic and the league Manager’s will be present. If you have catcher’s gear, bring it. If not, we will have some there for use. Times are as follows:

Hello SMGSA Families!
This afternoon, and every Thursday until the end of the fall season, our league sponsored fielding clinics will begin at Heasley Field. Led by Alverno Softball Coach & SMGSA’s Director of Coaching, Lucinda Buchan, all players are encouraged to attend to work on skills and techniques. There is no cost for these and times are as follows:
6U/8U – 5pm to 6pm
10U – 6pm to 7pm
12U/14U – 7pm to 8pm

All managers of their respective divisions will be in attendance. No sign-up is necessary, just show up!

Our hitting clinic will still be going on every Thursday at Heasley Field, hosted by Jelly Felix. The cost of that clinic is $15 and going forward, checks need to be written to “Angelica Felix” rather than SMGSA. We still ask that you check your daughter in before she walks to the clinic. One of the concerns that has been brought to us about these clinics is that they aren’t ending on time however that is largely due to not everyone showing up on time. Please be prompt for your reserved spot as these clinics will begin at their respective times: 6pm to 7pm and 7pm to 8pm. Signing up via our SignUpGenius is required. A few spaces actually remain for tonight. Here is the link:

Our pitching clinics, hosted by Ashley Lopez, will also continue on Thursday’s at Heasley Field however this evening’s pitching clinic has been cancelled. The cost of the pitching clinic is $20 and checks should now be made out to “Ashley Lopez” but again, please check in beforehand. Clinic times are 6pm-7pm and 7pm-8pm. Signing up via our SignUpGenius is required. Here is the link: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080d4aa8aa22a7f58-smgsa1

We have done our best to make it possible for anyone that wants to attend multiple clinics in one night to be able to do so. Please email us at smgsa@smgsa.org if you have any questions or concerns.

Lastly, tomorrow, Friday, September 8th, is the final day to sign up to work the one hour shift per player at the Heasley Field Diner and receive your $25 deposit back. After tomorrow, the league must go out and hire people to work the unfilled shifts. The link to sign up for the diner is: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080d4aa8aa22a7f58-fall

We look forward to seeing everyone one Sunday for their first games.

There are still spots available for both clinics tomorrow so don’t delay. Also, out of respect not only for the instructors but for other players who want to sign up but can’t due to the clinics being full, please provide us a 24 hour notice if your daughter can’t make the clinic she is signed up for.

Our diner sign-ups are available to selected. Use this link to pick your day and time:

Please keep in mind that September 8th is the final day to sign up to work the diner and receive your $25 diner deposit back.

Lastly, just a reminder that Friday night is Movie Night in the Park at Heasley Field. The movie will be “Lego Batman” and will begin promptly at 7:30. The diner will open at 6:30 for dinner and snacks. Bring a blanket, lawn chair etc. Hope to see you all there.

Hello SMGSA!

Schedules are now posted. As part of registration, you were charged a $25 deposit that is fully refundable after volunteering one hour per player in our diner at Heasley Field. (FYI, the registration system actually said 2 hours per player however that was a typo, carried over from the Spring.) Should you choose not to volunteer the hour, you agreed to surrender your deposit and allow the league to hire temporary workers in your place.

The diner at Heasley Field is an essential financial part of SMGSA, and the diner’s success depends upon parent volunteers. Once you work your diner shift at Heasley Field, the deposit will be refunded via a check which can be mailed or picked up the following week. You will have until September 8, 2017, to sign up for a shift.
Your diner deposit will be forfeited if:

  • You do not show up for your shift
  • You do not sign up to cover a shift by September 8, 2017
  • You are more than 10 minutes late to your shift
  • Changing your shift may be done one time per season without penalty with a 24 hour advanced notice.

To sign up, click on this link to our SignUpGenius: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080d4aa8aa22a7f58-fall

Please direct any/all questions to VicePresident@smgsa.org AND smgsa@smgsa.org.

Throughout the fall season, SMGSA is going to be putting on clinics every Thursday at Heasley Field. Not only will the hitting clinic remain on that evening but we will be moving our pitching clinics to that night as well. Both of those clinics, taught by Jelly Felix and Ashley Lopez respectfully, do require a fee of $15 and $20 and are limited to 16 and 6 girls per session. Beginning in two weeks, SMGSA’s Director of Coaching and Alverno’s Varsity Softball Coach, Lucinda Buchan, will be hosting a skills and development clinic every Thursday at Heasley as well. These will be free of charge and will be run with the assistance of all the league’s managers. Details on Lucinda’s clinics will be coming soon. All clinics will have a SignUpGenius link that will be posted on the SMGSA website.

Lastly, team assignments were completed late last night by the Competition Committee and all players have been uploaded to the manager’s team page. Parents should hear from managers before the weekend is over regarding practices etc. Game schedules should be finalized by the end of next week and the diner duty sign up immediately following.

For those that are interested in volunteering in the capacity of Assistant Coach or Team Parent, a Volunteer Application is needed ONLY if that individual did not already hold one of those positions this last Spring. A copy of the application can be found in the document section of the SMGSA website. Completed applications should be scan/emailed to smgsa@smgsa.org.

Hope to see everyone at Movie Night in the Park next Friday (details on the SMGSA website) and if you have any questions, the best place to start is with your team manager or by going to the SMGSA website, clicking on the “Executive Board” tab and locating the board member whom might best to answer your question.

Looking forward to a fun & successful fall season.

Regards,

Jeff Reisbeck
